About Safety First Boating School

Founded by chief instructor Lew Donovan, a USCG-certified, licensed captain with 40 years of boating experience, Safety First Boating School opened its doors for business in 2001. Since then we have grown to become South Jersey’s largest private boating school, conducting more than 50 state-approved classes each season. All courses are listed with the Boat US Foundation, taught by USCG-licensed captains, and designed to be engaging, educational, and fun.

Our goal is to teach you what you need to know to enjoy powerboating—safely.
